New Peoples Bank Collins Branch Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening, Peoples Bank focuses tribute to Veterans

          Collins, MS–April 24, 2015–Peoples Bank celebrated Friday with a Ribbon Cutting at the newest addition to downtown Collins.
          It was a day full of festivities, CD specials, giveaways and hourly door prizes.  As the doors opened at 9:00, the first 100 guests were greeted with free t-shirts, warm smiles, joyful violin music, fresh flowers, and amazing brunch foods.
          At the ribbon cutting event, held at 10:00, chamber and city officials spoke kind and welcoming words. Covington County Miss Hospitality, Allison Humphrey, made her first official appearance to cut the ribbon. Many elected officials, chamber members, and a community of supporters joined in to help celebrate this monumental event.
          BBQ lunches began at 11:00, feeding around 450 people.  B95 set up a live broadcast during the lunchtime hours and brought along their fuzzy mascot, Buzzy the Bee.

         Veterans, caregivers, and Veterans Outreach members arrived for a reception at 2:00 in the 2nd floor community room. Peoples Bank VP and Veteran, Doug Rogers, presented the Veterans Outreach with a check for $2,000.
          Rogers said, “We are honored to be able to give to this worthy organization.  This is what our day was all about.”
          Snow cones and popcorn began for the after school crowd at 3:00, followed by a 4:00 presentation of the “Our Great America” art contest winners. The top 3 overall winners’ artwork was also framed and presented to the local veterans to hang in the Veterans Home in Collins.
          Opening its doors in Collins in 1997, Peoples Bank has become a huge supporter of the Covington County area. The Main Street corridor in Collins is also receiving a beautiful new “Welcome to Collins” brick tower
donated by Peoples Bank.
          Peoples Bank President/CEO Dennis Ammann said, “Our goal is to make Covington County a better place. We succeed only when our communities and customers succeed.”  He continued, “We are honored to be able to serve Collins and help draw people into this great downtown area.”

Overalll Winner, Isabella, is the 10 year old daughter of Kenneth and Dona Davis of Seminary.  She is a 5th grader at Seminary Middle School.  In addition to drawing, Isabella loves reading, scrapbooking and playing with her dolls.

Cynthia Thomas-Boone Joins Peoples Bank as Mortgage V.P.

              Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, today announced that Cynthia Thomas-Boone has joined the bank and will serve as Vice President and Mortgage Loan Officer. In her new role, Ms. Thomas-Boone will originate and process mortgage loan applications while providing what Ammann said will be “fast and friendly service.”
             Ms. Thomas-Boone brings to Peoples Bank more than 35 years of mortgage experience. Most recently, she served as a Vice President at Bancorp South serving the central Mississippi area. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Housing Initiative and is a member of the Home Builders of Mississippi, Home Builders of Jackson and the Jackson Association of Realtors.
            She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Clarke College.
            “I am pleased to join the Peoples Bank family and to bring many years of mortgage experience with me,” Ms. Thomas-Boone said. “We offer our customers a complete array of home loan options including First-Time Homebuyers, Conventional, FHA and VA Loans, USDA 100% mortgage and more, including mortgage refinancing. With today’s mortgage rates hovering near historic lows, there is a great opportunity for many to enter the home buying market or to refinance a higher-rate mortgage.”
            Ms. Thomas-Boone will be available to help customers in all Peoples Bank locations and the surrounding area.

          She counts among her outside interests traveling and spending time with her three children and their families.
